Denton, MD, Hotel/Motel Choices
Denton is located in Caroline County on Maryland's Eastern Shore just south of Route 404, and north of Martinak State Park, on the Choptank River. In the early part of the 1770s, the settlement here was called Eden-Town" in honor of the last governor of the colony of Maryland under the Proprietary, Sir Robert Eden but eventually shortened to Denton. In the late 1700's and early 1800's Eden-Town constructed a wharf, a factory that manufactured plows, and a marketplace which is where today's Masonic Hall sits.
Today Denton is home for more than 3000 people. Being that Denton is on the Choptank River was the easiest way to it from the western shore was by boat until a bridge was built bringing even more people to set up stores, shops, churches, and schools. The downtown area has been rebuilt over the years and is now the commercial and governmental center for Caroline County.
When visiting Denton you will only find one hotel in town, the Best Western. However, Easton has many more to choose from just 14 miles away. During your stay you may want to hit a few balls at the Upland Golf Club a few miles to the west or go to the Tuckahoe State Park, a few miles to the northwest.
