As of the 2000 census, the area had a total population of 15,814. The Maryland State Fair is held in Timonium each year near Labor Day, and is one of the premier events for the State of Maryland.

It seems like every weekend has people flocking to the fairgrounds to see one form of show or another. Computer shows, car shows, cat shows, coin chows and more - all bring people to this section of Baltimore County to visit, shop, explore and eat.
This is also a good place for people to use as a stopping-off place for their visit to Baltimore's Inner Harbor and all the sightseeing that Baltimore has to offer. People can find inexpensive hotel rooms in Timonium and use the Light Rail system to reach downtown Baltimore. It is possible to stay here, for a show and spend a day or two visiting downtown and never have to use your car other than for a trip to a variety of local restaurants.
