Timonium is a very popular suburb of Baltimore and Towson, located in Baltimore County, Maryland. It is actually made up of the communities of Lutherville and Timonium. As of the 2000 census, the area had a total population of 15,814. The Maryland State Fair is held in Timonium each year near Labor Day, and is one of the premier events for the State of Maryland.

Even though the State Fair brings thousands of people to Timonium and the Timonium Fairgrounds during a relatively short period of time, the Fairgrounds are actually in use throughout the year. It seems like every weekend has people flocking to the fairgrounds to see one form of show or another. Computer shows, car shows, cat shows, coin chows and more - all bring people to this section of Baltimore County to visit, shop, explore and eat.

This is also a good place for people to use as a stopping-off place for their visit to Baltimore's Inner Harbor and all the sightseeing that Baltimore has to offer. People can find inexpensive hotel rooms in Timonium and use the Light Rail system to reach downtown Baltimore. It is possible to stay here, for a show and spend a day or two visiting downtown and never have to use your car other than for a trip to a variety of local restaurants.

Lutherville-Timonium is located at 39°26'11" North, 76°37'6" West (39.436456, -76.618461).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 19.1 km˛ (7.4 mi˛). 19.1 km˛ (7.4 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

The town is north of Baltimore City along I-83 and York Road. It is bordered on the north by Cockeysville and on the south by Towson.

Most residents consider Lutherville to be south of Timonium Road, and Timonium to be north of Timonium Road. Some residents don't consider either Lutherville nor Timonium to extend west past York Road, let alone I-83; though most agree both communities are bounded by Dulaney Valley Road to the east.
